About Aerospacelab

Our mission is supported by an ambitious vertically integrated approach: design & manufacture of small satellites combined with development of earth observation services.

Since its creation in 2018, the company has already grown substantially. Our team gathers more than 25 engineering expertise, from hardware design to software development & data science.

In 2026, Aerospacelab counts offices in Louvain-la-Neuve (Belgium), Toulouse (France), Lausanne (Switzerland) and US West Coast with more than 350full-time employees, with the ambition to position itself as the European leader in small satellites.

Your mission

We just created the AIDE team (AI Development & Enablement) with one mission: make AI a core part of how Aerospacelab works. This is not an afterthought or a side project — it is a company-wide transformation backed by leadership.

As an AI Engineer, you will be one of the founding members of this team. You will shape the AI strategy alongside the Head of AI, build the tools and pipelines that make the entire company faster, and drive adoption across 350+ engineers, operators, and business teams.

This role sits at the intersection of engineering, strategy, and people. You will write code, deploy infrastructure, design agentic workflows, but you will also stand in front of a room, train teams, and convince skeptics. If you are looking for a role where you can have outsized impact on an entire organization, this is it.

What you will do

Strategy & Vision

  • Contribute to defining and executing the AI strategy of the company alongside the Head of AI.
  • Benchmark and evaluate AI tools, platforms, and models to identify the best solutions for each use case.
  • Monitor the AI landscape — new models, techniques, and industry trends — and translate them into actionable recommendations.

Build & Deploy

  • Design and build agentic pipelines to automate repetitive, time-consuming tasks across departments.
  • Deploy, configure, and maintain AI tools for company-wide use (coding assistants, document generation, knowledge retrieval, etc.).
  • Develop custom integrations between AI tools and internal platforms.
  • Ensure all AI deployments meet security, confidentiality, and data governance requirements.

Enable & Train

  • Deliver training sessions and workshops to upskill employees on AI tools and best practices.
  • Create documentation, guides, and reusable templates to accelerate AI adoption.
  • Act as the go-to person for AI-related questions, support teams in identifying where AI can solve their specific pain points.
  • Build an internal knowledge base of prompts, workflows, and use cases.

Measure & Improve

  • Define and track adoption metrics to measure the real impact of AI initiatives.
  • Collect feedback from users, iterate on tools and processes, and continuously improve the AI experience across the company.

Must have

  • Master's degree in an engineering field (computer science, data science, applied mathematics, or equivalent).
  • Minimum 2 years of professional work experience.
  • Proven track record of building real-world solutions with AI tools, not just experimentation, but deployed, working systems.
  • Programming skills: you can write clean, maintainable code and are comfortable working in a terminal.
  • Understanding of version control with Git.
  • Strong communication skills: you are comfortable presenting in front of a group, running a training, or writing clear documentation.
  • Good command of English (spoken and written).
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical mindset: you dig into problems, find root causes, and build solutions.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a high-stakes, mission-critical environment.
  • Innovative mindset with a focus on automation and efficiency: you see a manual process and immediately think about how to make it better.
  • Genuine passion for AI: you follow the field closely, you experiment on your own, and you are excited about where it is going.
  •  Eligibility to work from our Belgium offices.

Nice to have

  • Professional experience with Python.

  • Background in change management or technology adoption in organizations.
  • Passion for space.
